Sisters Eliza and Henrietta Huszti vanished in Aberdeen earlier this month.
Eliza and Henrietta Huszti Vanish Without a Trace
Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, twin sisters aged 32, have been missing from Aberdeen since January 7, 2025. In a puzzling turn of events, police revealed that one of the sisters sent a final text message to their landlady shortly before their disappearance.
Security footage from that night shows the sisters walking toward Victoria Bridge in Aberdeen at 2:12 a.m. The video captures them crossing the bridge and turning right onto a footpath along the River Dee. After this sighting, all traces of the sisters vanished.
Described as white and slim with brown hair, the sisters were last seen wearing grey coats. Additional CCTV from earlier on January 6 showed them carrying rucksacks, raising further questions about their plans that day.
The Mysterious Final Text Message
Authorities revealed that a text message was sent from Henrietta’s phone in the early hours of January 7. The message, directed to their landlady, indicated that the sisters did not plan to return to their flat. Soon after, Henrietta’s phone disconnected from the network and has not been reactivated.
The landlady, growing concerned, visited the flat the next day. She discovered the sisters’ personal belongings left behind, adding to the mystery. Despite ongoing investigations, the police have not disclosed the full details of the text message.
The Family’s Response to the Disappearance
The sisters’ family, based in Hungary, is distraught over the situation. Their brother, Jozsef, shared with the BBC that the family was unaware of any plans by Eliza and Henrietta to terminate their tenancy.
“They never mentioned any such plan,” Jozsef stated, emphasizing their confusion over the sudden disappearance.
The family has requested privacy through a translated statement: “We kindly ask everyone for respect. Please do not spread any unfounded rumours.”
Police Investigation and Ruling Out Foul Play
Superintendent David Howieson addressed the media, confirming that there is no evidence of suspicious activity or criminal involvement in the case.
“We have carried out a significant trawl of public and private CCTV footage as we try to establish the sisters’ movements,” he explained.
Howieson noted that police are thoroughly reviewing hours of video to piece together the timeline of events. He confirmed that Eliza and Henrietta were seen on the River Dee footpath earlier in the day on January 6.
Ongoing Search Efforts and Public Involvement
The police continue to work diligently, pursuing all possible leads to locate the missing sisters. Extensive inquiries are ongoing, with a dedicated team analyzing footage and gathering information.
Authorities have urged anyone who may have seen the sisters or has relevant information to come forward. With no clear indication of their intentions or whereabouts, the case remains an unsettling mystery for both the family and the community.
